With new, trendy shopping centers being built all around Singapore, and the introduction of online malls such as Lazada and Qoo10, brick-and-mortar merchants in Chinatown have not been able to keep up.
These merchants, however are now taking a step forward with CCPay, a local company which has partnered with Alipay to bring cashless payments and services via Alipay’s network into Singapore. With this, the merchants will be able to access the digital wallets of the 2.8 million Chinese tourists who visit the hotspot every year.
Mileage Communications organised a Media Briefing for CCPay’s partnership with Alipay. The topic, being in line with Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative and Alipay’s international expansion, attracted most of the local media organisations such as Channel NewsAsia and the Straits Times, and even international wire agencies such as Xinhua News Agency and Nikkei Asian Review. There was extensive coverage of the event.
