Social distancing is becoming the new normal thanks to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. This has led to technology dramatically changing the way we live, work, and play. Mileage Communications, a member of the Public Relations Global Network, has also adapted to the situation by teleconferencing with our clients, vendors, and partners.
In May 2020, Public Relations Global Network members expected to hold their spring meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. Unfortunately, as cases around the world spiked, travel was curtailed and people were strongly advised to #StayHome. A physical meeting was thus no longer possible. The 51-strong global network of independent public relations agencies banded together to work out a solution and facilitate the handover of PRGN leadership.
Public Relations Global Network member agencies typically meet twice a year to share best practices, initiatives, and strategies. This time, the agencies decided to hold their meeting virtually. Members in Asia-Pacific commenced the teleconference, followed by agencies in Middle East and Africa, Europe, and the Americas. There were fruitful and interesting conversations on COVID-19’s impact on the PR industry, updates on financials, and PRGN developments.
All in all, it was a two-day affair which concluded with the ceremonial handover of the gavel from outgoing Public Relations Global Network President Aaron Blank, CEO and President of The Fearey Group, to Robert Bauer, Managing Partner of Austrian PR agency accelent communications.
