SINGAPORE/MYANMAR – Clocking Mileage in Myanmar

On 8 June 2017, a memorandum of understanding was signed between IE Singapore and the Myanmar Investment Commission. This MOU encourages bilateral relations between both countries, as Singapore firms can now easily work with partners in Myanmar to explore business openings.

Prior to this signing, an MOU was also signed between the Myanmar Gold Development Public Co. Ltd and the Singapore Bullion Market Association on 5 June 2017. The MOU was witnessed by participants of the Asia Pacific Precious Metals Conference which was organised by the Singapore Bullion Market Association and supported by IE Singapore.

Clearly, Myanmar is the new frontier for MNCs and local companies to expand into.

However, Mileage Communications has already trail blazed into Myanmar in 2013, setting up a joint venture, Mileage Communications MCG Co. Ltd. Since then, the Mileage Myanmar has serviced many MNCs and Singapore companies such as Channel NewsAsia, Huawei, Bosch, LG, Panasonic and Kubota Corporation.

The agency is headed by Mr John Jun, a professional marketing communications consultant with more than 25 years of experience with top international and Myanmar companies such as Dentsu, Young & Rubicam, Leo Burnett, BBDO, and NA Communication Myanmar.

“The joint venture company is well positioned to assist multinational and Singapore companies that want to enter the Myanmar market. Similarly, we can also provide marketing communications services to companies and organisations in Myanmar that wish to break into the region and the world through our 13 offices in Asia as well as extensive global network of affiliates respectively”, said Mr Yap Boh Tiong, Chairman of the Mileage Communications Group.

The Mileage Communications Group currently operates in 15 offices across nine countries in Asia. The Group is headquartered in Singapore, and also operates in China (Shanghai), India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata), Indonesia (Jakarta), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Myanmar (Yangon and Mandalay), South Korea (Seoul), Thailand (Bangkok), and Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City).
